Targeting molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration: focus on advanced therapies

Dear friends,

Welcome to the ESN-ISN Neurochemistry School 2023 in Faro, Algarve! As chair of the school, it is my great pleasure to welcome you.

The Neurochemistry School is an advanced educational platform that aims to explore the fascinating field of neurodegeneration and delve into the intricate molecular mechanisms underlying this complex phenomenon. With a specific focus on advanced therapies, we are dedicated to training you with the knowledge, skills, and insights necessary to tackle the challenges of your research projects.

Over the course of the week (from the 29th of October until the 4th of November), you will be immersed in a rich program designed to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the latest developments in the field. You will have the opportunity to attend to lectures, participate in technical lectures, workshops, and engaging hands-on activities that will foster a deeper understanding of the techniques and methodologies employed in neurochemistry research.

Beyond all these scientific events, we believe in fostering a sense of community and collaboration. Networking sessions will facilitate interactions among participants, and in addition, we have planned a range of social activities. I encourage you to embrace this opportunity to expand your knowledge, engage in meaningful discussions, and collaborate with fellow researchers and experts in the field. May this week be a transformative experience, inspiring you to push the boundaries of neurochemistry and strive for breakthroughs in the understanding and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. Apply until the 16th of August 2023. Once again, welcome to the Neurochemistry School 2023 in Faro, Algarve. We look forward to embarking on this enlightening journey together.

Sincerely,

Clévio Nóbrega, Chair of the Neurochemistry School

Labs, Lectures & Workshops

As neurodegenerative diseases present a huge burden worldwide with several unmet needs, the school will focus in three main goals: i) current methods to study neurodegeneration; ii) current advances in neurodegenerative diseases; and iii) advanced therapies to treat neurodegeneration.

The school will combine lectures, advanced technical lectures and workshops, as well as hands-on laboratorial sessions to be selected by the participants. Full descriptive information on these activities can be found aside.

Note: Applicants must select more than 9 hours of hands-on laboratories from the 14 available (download pdf) and indicate the preference of the labs, in the application form.
